France Public Universities Open and English-Taught Programmes

France public universities are open for the September 2027 intake. Key dates, 1,200+ English-taught programmes, tuition and how to apply.

Applications are now open at French public universities for the September 2027 intake. Indian students completing Class 12 can apply for Bachelor Year 1 (Licence 1, L1) through Campus France's official "Études en France" platform, using the DAP (Demande d'Admission Préalable) procedure, from 1 October 2026 to 15 December 2026. Master's applications for September 2027 are expected from February to March 2027 (dates to be confirmed).

We found no official national application process for a January or February 2027 start. Some universities may run their own intakes, so students interested in an early-2027 start should check each university's admissions page directly.

With affordable, government-regulated tuition and over 1,200 English-taught programmes at public institutions, France is a strong choice for Indian students planning their studies in Europe.

Through the DAP, a student can apply to up to 3 universities in one application. If a student does not confirm an offer by 31 May 2027, it counts as a refusal. Parcoursup is not the route for Indian Class 12 students; it is mainly for holders of a French or European Baccalauréat.

Note: one Campus France English page shows the DAP closing date as "15 December 2027". The correct date for the September 2027 intake is 15 December 2026.

For Master's (M1) and Bachelor Year 2 or 3, the exact 2027 dates have not yet been published, and Campus France India has not yet announced an India-specific Master's deadline. Whether Indian students apply for M1 through Études en France or Mon Master depends on the university, so check Campus France India and each university's admissions page.

English-Taught Programmes

La Europa's research team reviewed Campus France's official "Taught in English" catalogue and the institutions' own English programme lists across 75 public institutions. We identified 1,207 English-taught programmes:

  • 52 Bachelor programmes and 1,155 Master's programmes
  • 908 fully in English and 299 partly in English (an English track within the degree)

Most English-taught options are at Master's level, so Class 12 students who wish to study only in English should shortlist carefully.

Tuition Fees at Public Universities (2026-27)

According to Campus France, annual tuition for Indian students at French public universities for 2026-27 is:

  • Bachelor's: EUR 2,902 per year
  • Master's: EUR 3,950 per year

Universities may waive part of the fees. Some programmes, such as certain joint European Master's degrees, set their own fees, so always check the programme's official page.

How to Apply: 5 Steps

This is general guidance; please confirm the latest requirements with Campus France India.

  1. Shortlist programmes. Choose your level, subject and language of instruction, and check each programme's entry requirements on the university website.
  2. Register on Études en France. Create your account through Campus France India and complete your personal, academic and language details.
  3. Upload documents and submit. Typical documents include your passport, photograph, CV, marksheets and certificates, a statement of purpose, and language test results (French for most first-year programmes, English for English-taught programmes).
  4. Attend the Campus France interview. After paying the Campus France fee, you will be invited to an academic interview with your original documents.
  5. Confirm your offer and apply for your visa. Accept one offer by the deadline, then apply for your student visa on the official France-Visas portal and attend your VFS appointment for biometrics.
